Retailers and online sellers create a lot of content inside their ERP: item descriptions, customer-facing text, order notes and dozens of fields that feed a web shop or a marketplace listing. AI agents can now draft much of that content. The question is how to review it quickly without losing control of quality. Business Central 29.0 answers that by putting the review right where the work happens.

The industry challenge

A mid-sized retailer might add hundreds of new items every season. Each item needs a description, attributes and correct field values before it can be sold, especially when Business Central feeds a Shopify store or another channel.

AI can draft this content quickly, but retailers have learned the hard way that unchecked content is a risk:

  • A wrong size or material in a description leads to returns and complaints
  • An off-brand tone damages trust on product pages
  • A wrong field value can send an item to the wrong channel or price group

The problem with many AI workflows is that review happens somewhere else. In a separate pane or queue, the reviewer loses the context of the record they are checking. Review gets slower, or worse, it becomes a box-ticking exercise.

What Microsoft delivered in Business Central 29.0

Business Central 29.0 lets users review and approve agent-generated content directly on the pages where they already work. According to Microsoft:

  • Users no longer need to go to a separate task pane to know that a document was created by an agent.
  • Suggestions from agents, such as descriptions, text proposals and updates to specific fields, appear inline on the page.
  • Users can check and change those suggestions before they are applied.
  • The experience builds on the autofill patterns Business Central already uses, so it feels familiar.

This complements the new agent task pane. The pane tells you what needs attention. The inline review lets you deal with it in context.

Where the value shows up

Business areaImpact for a retailer
Catalogue speedNew items move from draft to sellable faster
Content qualityReviewers see the suggestion next to the rest of the record
Brand consistencyMerchandisers can edit tone and wording before anything is saved
Error preventionField-level suggestions are checked in context, not in a separate list
Team adoptionNo new screen to learn, because review happens on the familiar page

Context is the key. A merchandiser checking a product description wants to see the item's category, variants and attributes at the same time. Inline review gives them that without extra clicks.

A worked scenario

Consider a homeware retailer that sells in two physical stores and online (an illustrative example). Its autumn range has 300 new items. An agent drafts descriptions and fills in suggested field values from supplier data.

Previously, the merchandising assistant reviewed suggestions in a list, then opened each item card to check that they made sense. The work took days and errors still slipped through.

With Business Central 29.0, the assistant opens each item card and sees the agent's suggestions highlighted on the page. On a ceramic vase, the agent has described the material correctly but used a casual tone that doesn't fit the brand. The assistant rewrites one sentence and accepts the rest. On a throw, the agent has picked the wrong fabric from the supplier file, so the assistant corrects it before it ever reaches the web shop.

Adoption considerations

  • Write a short content style guide. Give reviewers clear rules on tone, length and banned terms so their edits are consistent.
  • Decide which fields need review. Low-risk text might need a quick glance, while prices, dimensions and compliance fields need a careful check.
  • Feed back to the agent. Patterns in the edits you make show where agent instructions or source data should improve.
  • Keep accountability clear. Accepting a suggestion is a decision. Make sure reviewers know they own the result.
  • Combine it with the task pane. Use the pane to find work and inline review to finish it.

The bottom line

In retail, speed to shelf and quality of content pull in opposite directions. AI-generated content makes speed possible. Inline review in Business Central 29.0 keeps quality in human hands by putting the check where the context already is. For retailers with large or seasonal catalogues, that combination is where AI starts to pay off.

If you're considering using agents to support your product data, it's worth agreeing your review rules with an experienced Business Central adviser first.
